a note about statistics on this page:

1. “black” designates % black-non-hispanic voting age (BVAP-NH) population in 2010, per census. 2010 is the census that was used for the design of the existing districts.

2. All senate districts listed in a story are contiguous, i.e. share a common border with the possibly-cracked districts

3. Statistical Atlas is a great resource to learn data about the districts, and is useful for seeing their geography. You will notice that the % black population reported in Statistical Atlas does not agree with the numbers below. Here’s why: Statistical Atlas provides 2012-2016 total black population %, so it is not an accurate measure of 2010 BVAP-NH (reported below).
